Matthew “Vern” Grindstaff / Community Outreach and Development:

It’s my pleasure to serve as the Community Outreach and Development Coordinator for Compassionate Care Western North Carolina.

I personally feel that I have the best career anyone could ever ask for. In my role I have the distinct honor of representing our organization in and around our community. It is my responsibility to maintain relationships with all of our partnering organizations, i.e. physician offices, health departments, local EMS as well as our area skilled and assisted living facilities.

I am privileged to be able to plan and promote all of our community outreach events such as fundraisers, cookouts and sponsored events in the area. I also handle our marketing, such as commercials, print ads and radio spots.

In all the areas of my work the most rewarding is my contact with the residents at our facilities and the local senior centers. When we feel that our day is difficult because of the stresses of everyday life, it never fails that I will encounter one of the residents or a client at our senior center and they always lift my spirit. They help me realize that the most important lesson of life is to slow down and cherish each moment we have.

Hospice and palliative care are not necessarily about our last days. Rather, they are about quality of life and making our journey count. If there is any way that I can help you or your family better understand how Compassionate Care Western North Carolina can serve your family or our community please do not hesitate to contact me.

It is our desire to give back to our community and the families we serve as best we can.
